Gliomas
Gliomas are a group of brain tumours that arise from glial cells. They encompass various types, including astrocytomas, oligodendrogliomas, and ependymomas, each with distinct characteristics and prognosis (learn more below).
Diagnosis typically involves imaging studies such as MRI or CT scans, followed by a biopsy to confirm the tumour type and grade. Symptoms vary depending on the tumour's location and size but may include headaches, seizures, cognitive changes, and motor deficits.

The effects of gliomas can be profound, potentially causing neurological impairment, functional limitations, and decreased quality of life. Treatment often involves a combination of surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, tailored to the tumour's characteristics and the patient's overall health.
